-Language Training and Skills Development-
The Language program facilitates the integration of newcomers into Canadian culture and society by providing basic language training based on LINC curriculum themes. Students are taught basic and advanced topics related to Canada and Canadian society, while learning English at the same time.
Windsor Women Working With Immigrant Women offers Literacy levels 1, 2 and 3, as well as LINC levels 1-3 in part-time classes to meet the needs of our students. Our morning classes run from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm, while afternoon classes run from 12:30 pm to 3:30 pm. We also offer evening classes for LINC levels 1-3, which run from 3:35 pm to 6:35 pm.
Literacy 1, 2, 3
Literacy training teaches speaking, listening, reading, writing and numeracy skills to adults who have little or no literacy skills, or who are semi-literate in their own language, or whose first language uses a non-Roman alphabet. Students learn to give adequate basic responses to questions, communicate basic needs, and engage in routine everyday communication.
LINC 1, 2, 3
LINC training improves the listening, speaking, reading and writing skills of students, and moves their performance levels to an initial intermediate stage. Students engage in intelligible and communicatively effective social interactions. They demonstrate an ability to function in unpredictable, as well as predictable contexts.
Seniors – Literacy 3 and LINC 1, 2, 3
The four competency areas of listening, speaking, reading and writing are practised in these classes at the CLB Literacy Benchmark Stages 3-4 and LINC 1-3 levels. These courses, also based on LINC curriculum themes, focus on topics relevant to seniors, and are designed to accommodate their learning needs and styles.
